Estonian language teacher

I’m a teacher of Estonian language. My name is Aili.

Estonian language course targets young or adult learners, who want to learn to communicate in everyday situations. Estonian course is suitable both for individual study and also for groups.

There is no need to rush, you can learn the language at your own pace. Yes, you can learn Estonian from scratch.

You have probably heard rumors about the Estonian language being complicated and hard to learn. Well, it depends. It depends on your motivation and the amount of time you can dedicate to your studies.

How can we work?

In the contact training (in Tallinn, Estonia) or, if necessary, via the Internet by using Google Meet.

 The goal of learning Estonian

The main goal for me is to teach you to speak! The main principle for choosing the material for the course is its relevance in the real life. The main goal for you is, that you can speak Estonian and you can understand the real life of Estonia. It’s very important to understand the local language while living and working in Estonia.

Anyway! Everything depend on you! It depends on your motivation and the amount of time you can or want to dedicate to your studies. So, if you are ready to start learning, you are welcome to contact me!

Language levels

In accordance with European language requirements there are following language levels:

A1 / beginner level

A2 / beginner level

B1 / independent language user

B2 / independent language user

C1 / experienced language user

C2 / experienced language user (close to the native speaker)

 The curriculum (for example level A1 – A2)

The curriculum (level A1-A2 ) covers various topics and pays attention to all aspects of the language –  reading, writing, grammar, listening and speaking. The attention is paid to basic grammar, vocabulary and communication practice.

Topics: introduction (greetings, goodbyes, polite words), acquaintance, days of the week, numerals, languages, nationalities, weather, seasons, month and date, my day, adjectives, colors, family and home, travel, road management, furniture, food and beverages, work and profession, hobby, shopping, picture description, health, appearance, personal opinion.

The grammar considers: the basics of pronunciation, interrogative words, alternating consonants, pronouns, numerals and ordinal numerals, verb in present and past tense, questionnaire, drafting questions and answers etc.

You will learn:

  • to participate in everyday communication
  • to speak and exchange phrases to describe your family, living conditions, other people, your opinion, your place of work, your health etc.
  • to write a simple personal letter or fill in a form.
  • to understand sentences and frequently used words that are related to key areas of life (as information about yourself and family, shopping, work).
  • to understand short and simple statements of everyday content (simple conversations, messages etc).
  • to find specific information in simple everyday material and understand short simple letters of a personal nature.

The curriculums are based on the language proficiency levels described in the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
